About Louise Squires, Therapist and Counsellor London E17

I am a fully qualified and experienced Psychosynthesis Psychotherapist and have been working in the field of counselling and therapy for over 20 years. I am registered with UKCP (The United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) and remain a fully accredited member of BACP (The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) since 2005.

Welcome, and thank you for showing an interest in my practice.

I have been running my own London based Psychotherapy and Counselling practice since 1998. I am now based in Walthamstow, London E17. I offer a holistic and integrative approach to psychotherapy that is Psychosynthesis based, which draws on both Western psychology and Eastern philosophies. It incorporates theories from Existential, Psychodynamic, Jungian, Gestalt, Transpersonal and Interpersonal relational models.

I warmly welcome all clients to my practice. I work with a wide range of clients from differing ages, cultures, faiths, abilities and backgrounds and those within the GSRD community. I have considerable experience in the areas of trauma and abuse, anxiety and depression, relationships, sexuality and spirituality, and bereavement. I provide a safe and confidential space for clients to bring distress, crises or ‘breakdowns’, to explore life issues, to deepen their relationships, and to express worries about the past and hopes for the future. My practice room is in a peaceful and private garden setting.

I believe therapy is a relational, creative, collaborative process. I use my knowledge and experience to offer my clients a unique and ‘tailor-made’ therapeutic experience, facilitating them to explore the meaning in their life and find healing in their distress. The therapeutic work can therefore be short or long term, and may incorporate or draw upon different ‘techniques’, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, using writing and drawings, ‘empty chair’ work, mindfulness, imagery and visualisations, and working with the body.

As well as my private practice, I am an experienced University Counsellor. I have held many roles in HE wellbeing services including Manager, Wellbeing Practitioner, Mental Health Co-ordinator and Supervisor and have worked extensively with a very broad range of students from all over the world. I recently worked with dancers as a counsellor at a contemporary dance school. The mental health aspect of HE work involved referring and liaising with the NHS, and ensuring the right level of support for those with more severe mental health issues and diagnoses. I have previously been a clinical manager of a school counselling placement service, and a bereavement service, and have managed and supervised volunteer counsellors on placement. I am currently a training therapist for several trainee counsellors.

I have undertaken additional training in Supervision, GSRD issues, bereavement and loss therapy, group relational dynamics, art therapy, relationship counselling, life coaching, and working with complex trauma and abuse.

Please feel free to contact me and we can discuss whether we could work together.
